MEZERAY (François). Chronologischer Überblick oder Auszüge aus der Geschichte Frankreichs. Paris, Thomas Jolly, 1667 (Bände II und III) – 1668 (Band I). 3 Bände in-4, braunes Kalbsleder, Rücken mit verzierten Rippen, rote Titel- und Bandnummern (Einband aus der Entstehungszeit). Fehlstellen an den Kappe, abgenutzte Ecken, einige Abriebspuren und kleine Lederfehlstellen. Große, helle Wasserflecken. Erstausgabe des „Abrégé chronologique“, erschienen 1667–1668, im Anschluss an Mézerays „Grande Histoire de France“ (1643–1651). Sie ist mit einem Porträt von Ludwig XIV. als Frontispiz (hier fehlend) sowie mit 57 gravierten Porträts der Könige von Frankreich illustriert. Dieses erstmals 1667–1668 erschienene „Abrégé“ erfreute sich anhaltenden Erfolgs, insbesondere dank der Klarheit seiner Darstellung und der Urteilsfreiheit seines Autors, dessen Kritik am monarchischen Steuersystem den Machthabern missfiel.
