A large bronze mortar with dolphin handles, workshop of George Schellener, Bolzano, ca. 1660/70 Bronze mit leichter Alterspatina. Zylindrischer Korpus mit kräftiger Bandgliederung und weit ausgestellter Lippe. Seitlich zwei Handhaben in Form von stilisierten Delfinen. Beidseitig kleine Wappenkartusche mit behelmten Wappen der „Juliana de Silverster Rossi“. Eine Kartusche mit Reparaturstelle in Zinn. Dazu nicht zugehöriger doppelseitiger Stößel. Höhe und Durchmesser des Mörsers je 18,5 cm, Länge des Stößels 27 cm. Der Glocken- und Geschützgießer Georg Schellener übernahm 1655 in Bozen die Gießerwerkstatt seines verstorbenen Bruders Hans Schellener, er verstarb 1679. Vergleichbare Stücke aus der Werkstatt Georg Schellener befinden sich u.a. in der Sammlung Jena in Essen. Condition: II -
