Lose Doppelbogen in farbig lithographiertem Originalumschlag. In Pappschuber. Duthuit/Garnaud 28. - Monod 8773. - Rauch 174. - A&B 202 41,0 : 27,5 cm. 100, [4] Seiten. english description: With 100 full-page color lithographs, some with lithographed text. Loose double sheets in a color-lithographed original protective wrapper. Cardboard slipcase. One of 1,200 copies on Vélin d’Arches, plus 30 “hors commerce” copies. - Signed by the artist in the colophon. - The text written by Matisse on the lithographic stones was embellished by him with colored borders and full-page variations of the “Fleur de lys.” The five full-sheet portraits are of particular graphic appeal. - All lithographs in black, red, green, blue, yellow, and violet, all printed by Mourlot Frères under the artist’s supervision. - A very fine copy of this artist’s book, which at first glance may seem somewhat “disrespectful” in its playfulness toward the king’s poetry. slipcase ?????????
