Das Original-Negativ befindet sich im Centre Pompidou, Inventur AM 1994-393 (6717). - Ein vergrößerter, signierter Abzug ist in der Sammlung des Getty Museums (84.XM.1000.133). - Obwohl Man Ray und Henry Miller gleichzeitig in Paris lebten, lernen sie sich erst nach ihrer Rückkehr in die USA kennen. Wie Man Ray kam auch Miller 1940 nach Los Angeles, wo er bei Margaret Neiman und ihrem Ehemann Gilbert wohnte, der Man Ray und Miller miteinander bekannt machte. - Mit nacktem Oberkörper erscheint die maskierte Margaret Neiman hinter dem Schriftsteller, dessen Alltags-Outfit in Hemd, Hosenträgern und Krawatte einen fast humorvollen Kontrast zu seiner lebhaften Muse bilden. - Etwas knickspurig und berieben, ein Fleck im Bereich der linken Brust, ein kurzer durchgehender Schnitt oben rechts im Bereich des verzerrten Hintergrunds, Ecken leicht bestoßen, verso etwas fleckig. #
