Schmitz, Hans. Dreiergruppe. Bronze, schwarz patiniert. Monogrammiert unten rechts an der Fußsohle "h. sch.". 1924/ um 1972. Maße: 8 x 18 x 12 cm. Der Bildhauer und Graphiker Hans Schmitz (1896-1977) gehörte zu der Kölner "Gruppe Progressiver Künstler". Ein Großteil seiner Arbeiten fiel einem Bombenangriff zum Opfer, daher sind heute nur noch wenige Werke von ihm erhalten. - "Schmitz arbeitete seine Plastiken vorwiegend in Gips, Ton oder Kunstwachs. Ob dies allein aus ästhetischen, künstlerischen Gründen geschah, oder möglicherweise auch eine Frage der bescheidenen finanziellen Mittel war, lässt sich heute nicht mehr mit Sicherheit sagen. (...) Von diesen (Gips- und Ton-) Modellen ließ Schmitz in den 70er Jahren die Bronze-Güsse für die kleinen Auflagen (max. 7 Exemplare) einiger früher Plastiken herstellen." (Kat. Galerie Glöckner, Köln 2013, S. 3 f.). Diese kleinen Bronze-Editionen wurden über die Galerie Kunze in Berlin vertrieben. - Minimal berieben.
