Flaschenvase mit gerolltem Hals aus glasiertem Steingut mit braunem Hintergrund und abstraktem Motiv, der Sockel ist in Reserve gehalten. Unsigniert. H. 15,5 cm (Guter Zustand) Provenienz: Erworben in den 2000er Jahren bei der Yakimono Gallery in Kyoto, die von Robert Yellin geführt wurde. Privatsammlung. Als Sohn von Shinsaku Hamada und Enkel des „Lebenden Nationalschatzes“ Shoji Hamada steht Tomoo Hamada in einer langen Familientradition als Vertreter der Mingei-Bewegung. Diese Mitte der 1920er Jahre entstandene „Volkskunstbewegung“ verkörpert Einfachheit und Bescheidenheit in allen traditionellen Kunstformen und inspirierte fast 30 Jahre später Charlotte Perriand, Sori Yanagi und die gesamte Freiform-Bewegung. Als Vertreter der dritten Generation der Hamada-Töpferei sorgt Tomoo für den Fortbestand des familiären Keramikschaffens; seine Werke sind international vertreten, vom Victoria & Albert Museum in London bis zum Asian Art Museum in San Francisco.
