C. Eisen, 1856. Abzug: 23,7 x 38,9 cm. Träger: 39,7 x 59 cm. Seltenheit der frühen Potsdam-Photographie. Michiels ist vor allem für Aufnahmen des Kölner Doms bekannt. Vier seiner großformatigen und scharf zeichnenden Potsdamer Bilder wurden 2006 im Rahmen der Ausstellung "Auslöser Potsdam" gezeigt, weitere kennt man nur aus einem Inserat, das der Verleger Eisen 1858 in der Leipziger "Illustrirten Zeitung" veröffentlichte (Wiedergabe bei Heidtmann, Wie das Photo ins Buch kam, S. 55). - Die vorliegende Aufnahme zeigt Eingangsbereich und Gärtnerhaus der 1829-40 nach Plänen von Friedrich Wilhelm IV. und Schinkel errichteten Römischen Bäder, derzeit in aufwändiger Sanierung. - Etwas verblasst, der Trägerkarton mit schwachen Knickspuren, sonst hervorragend erhalten.
