Diese auch heute noch ansprechenden Gedanken haben ihre Wurzel wohl in der französischen Revolution, die kurz vor der Abfassung des Buches stattgefunden hatte und die Ideen von Brüderlichkeit und Gleichheit verbreiteten. Es fällt auch auf, wie sehr die Vernunft als höchstes Gut des Menschen gepriesen wird, die hier die Stelle der in anderen Lesebüchern und Elementarwerken zentral aufgezeigten Gottesallmacht und Gottesvernunft einnimmt."
