Nach Pieter Casteels III., Flamer, 1684–1789– Ein Pfau und andere exotische Vögel in einer kunstvoll gestalteten Parklandschaft; Öl auf Leinwand, 76 x 102 cm (ohne Rahmen). Provenienz: Privatsammlung, Großbritannien. Anmerkung: Das vorliegende Werk ist charakteristisch für Casteels’ Darstellungen exotischer Vögel in Gartenlandschaften und scheint auf einem Originalgemälde derselben Komposition zu basieren, das am 11. Januar 1996 bei Sotheby’s in New York verkauft wurde, Los 4, von Casteels, das zuvor dem Kreis um Melchior d’Hondecoeter (1636–1695) zugeschrieben worden war. Der in Antwerpen geborene Casteels ließ sich um 1717 dauerhaft in England nieder, wo er sich als Maler von Blumen und Vögeln erfolgreich etablierte. Viele dieser Werke entstanden für dekorative Gestaltungen und dienten als Türüberzüge und Kaminsimse.
