Michael Philipp Junior, deutsch, tätig 1654–1687– Der heilige Georg und der Drache; Radierung auf Büttenpapier, signiert „MP Junior fecit paglia forfo / 1679“ (auf der Platte, unten rechts), auf der Rückseite undeutlich beschriftet und mit einem Stempel des Kupferstichkabinetts versehen, 14,2 x 17,1 cm. Provenienz: Kupferstichkabinett, München [Lugt 1614]. im Besitz von Christopher Mendez, London. Privatsammlung, Großbritannien. Anmerkung: Über Michael Philipp ist nur wenig bekannt, abgesehen davon, dass er in der zweiten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts in Ulm tätig war. Das vorliegende Werk basiert auf einer heute verlorenen Komposition des Miniaturmalers Giulio Clovio (1498–1578), die durch den 1542 veröffentlichten Stich von Enea Vico (1523–1567) bekannt ist [siehe Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Inv. 49.97.348].
