JORDI MERCADÉ FARRÉS (Barcelona, 1923–2005). „Barracas“. Acryl auf Leinwand. Signiert in der rechten unteren Ecke. Maße: 38 x 55 cm. Mercadé, der seine Ausbildung in Barcelona absolvierte, lebte von 1948 bis 1954 in Paris und war nach seiner Rückkehr Mitbegründer der Taüll-Gruppe. Er hatte zahlreiche Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen, unter anderem in Barcelona, Madrid, Saragossa, Mailand und Bern. Er war an der Gründung des „Salón de Mayo“ in Barcelona beteiligt und vertrat Spanien auf den Biennalen von São Paulo und Alexandria sowie auf den Pariser Salons der jungen Maler, dem Nationalen Salon der Schönen Künste und dem Salon des Indépendants. In den 1980er Jahren unterstützte er gemeinsam mit Tharrats die Gründung des Katalanischen Verbandes der Bildenden Künstler. Seine Werke sind unter anderem im Reina-Sofía-Museum und im Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Madrid, im Kunstmuseum in Bern, im Camón-Aznar-Museum in Saragossa und im MACBA in Barcelona vertreten.
