Obelisk-Paar aus gelbem Siena-Marmor – Italienische Schule – 20. Jahrhundert Ein Paar klassisch inspirierter Obelisken, geschnitzt aus gelbem Siena-Marmor, einem Stein, der besonders wegen seiner satten Goldtöne, seiner charakteristischen Maserung und seiner kleinen natürlichen Einschlüsse geschätzt wird. Die Wahl des Materials macht jedes Stück zu einem Unikat, bei dem die geometrische Architektur des Obelisken im Kontrast zum organischen Muster des Steins steht. Der Obelisk, der aus der Architektur des alten Ägyptens stammt und später in die monumentale Formensprache Roms integriert wurde, galt jahrhundertelang als Symbol für Macht, Beständigkeit und Prestige. Seine Wiederbelebung in der europäischen dekorativen Kunst erlangte besondere Bedeutung in palastartigen und aristokratischen Innenräumen, wo Paare von Obelisken, Säulen und architektonischen Elementen aus vielfarbigem Marmor verwendet wurden, um Kompositionen mit einer eindrucksvollen theatralischen Präsenz zu schaffen.
