Joseph A. Kurhajec (US-Amerikaner, geb. 1938) Gesicht Skulptur aus Pflanzenfasern, Bitumenputz und Wurzeln. Höhe 22, Breite 27, Tiefe 40 cm. Provenienz: Sammlung Laurent Danchin (1946–2017), Schriftsteller, Essayist und Kunstkritiker, durch familiäre Vererbung. Der in Racine (Wisconsin) geborene Kurhajec ist ein autodidaktischer Bildhauer, der sein Leben zwischen den Vereinigten Staaten, Frankreich und Mexiko aufteilt. Sein expressionistisches und groteskes Werk vereint Holz, Knochen, Horn, Gips, Seile und Federn zu Tieren, Totems und zusammengesetzten Figuren. Er gehört zu den 25 Künstlern, die Laurent Danchin in „Mycelium, génie savant génie brut“ (Editions de l’abbaye d’Auberive, Auberive, 2014) versammelt hat.
