Mai 1775“, adressiert an Nathaniel Coffin Esqr., unterzeichnet mit „Saml. Graves“ unterzeichnet, in dem er mitteilt, dass er „die Schaluppe ‚Nautilus‘ angewiesen habe, unverzüglich in See zu stechen und nach dem Transportschiff ‚Charming Nancy‘ mit der Bekleidung und anderen Vorräten für die Armee Ausschau zu halten“ Herkunft: Nachlass des verstorbenen Clive Richards CBE. Samuel Graves (1713–1787) spielte in der Anfangsphase des Unabhängigkeitskrieges eine bedeutende Rolle; von ihm stammende, signierte Briefe aus dieser Zeit sind selten.
