Offset printing is an indirect planographic printing process in which the ink is transferred from the printing plate first to a rubber blanket and from there to the paper. The process is based on lithography, which Senefelder developed between 1796 and 1800. The Madonna is a recurring motif in the work of Bente Merrild.
