Märklin 83320 electric locomotive SNCF BB 22200 Channel Tunnel, gauge H0, orig. packaging Electric locomotive of gauge H0 by Märklin, article number 83320, model of the BB 22200 class of the SNCF. Cast body in concrete grey with an orange decorative stripe, slate-grey roof and yellow end faces, front shape of the 'nez cassé' design, running number 22402. Two pantographs, twin-light headlamp signal at both ends, fitted with universal electronics for use in the DELTA and Digital system. In original packaging, the box provided with handwritten notes. The electrics respond (motor hums), however the drive is seized and gummed up due to the long period of standing; servicing and cleaning are required. Played-with condition. The absence of smaller, delicate add-on parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The dual-system locomotives of the BB 22200 class were built between 1976 and 1986 by Alsthom and MTE in 205 examples; the 'nez cassé' front shape designed by Paul Arzens shaped the image of the SNCF for decades. When the new-build locomotives intended specially for the Channel Tunnel were delayed, in 1994 the SNCF converted some machines as tunnel locomotives; the yellow end faces went back to a British regulation. Use in the Eurotunnel lasted only around 15 months, then Class 92 machines took over. With the 22402 the model depicts one of these few tunnel locomotives and appeared in 1995 as a special model.
