Probably PIKO Streamlined Steam Locomotive ME 101 with Tender in Zinc Die-Cast, H0, circa 1949 Streamlined steam locomotive with tender, probably by PIKO, H0. Zinc die-cast body in black livery with a red lining, embossed “ME 101” to the sides, tender of Bakelite. Played-with, with signs of age and corrosion. The electrics respond (light on, motor humming), the drive is seized after long standing (gummed up); servicing and cleaning are required. The piece of track shown serves for presentation only. The absence of smaller, delicate applied parts cannot be entirely ruled out. The model probably corresponds to the ME 101, the earliest locomotive by PIKO; it belonged to the first two H0 train sets that PIKO presented at the Leipzig autumn fair in 1949, made at the Chemnitz works of the Gesellschaft Kabel (later RFT-Gerätewerk). The fully clad streamlined locomotive with tender bears the raised plate 'ME 101' on the cab, runs on two driving axles (wheel arrangement B), has one headlamp at the front and measures 21.5 cm over buffers. Recorded in the consignor's collection index since 1982.
