Malteserkreuz mit kugelförmigen Spitzen; die Arme sind mit einem weiß emaillierten Feld verziert, das von einer Amatie-Bordüre zwischen zwei ziselierten Zierleisten umgeben ist, flankiert von einem Heiligenschein; durchbrochene Öse in Form eines Akanthusblatts, gekrönt von einer Kugel, Ring. Ovale Mittelbilder, Figuren in Vollrelief, die auf der Vorderseite vor einem Hintergrund aus durchscheinendem rotem Emaille, die auf der Rückseite vor einem glatten Hintergrund; aufgesetzte Inschriften, weiß emailliert, wobei die Buchstaben frei bleiben. Vorderseite: PONTIUS. MORI. QUAM. FOEDARI + Ein Hermelin Rückseite: PIUS IX PONT.MAX. + 1862 + Pius IX. im Profil. 70 x 62 mm. Leichte Verformungen, insbesondere an den Strahlen und Spitzen.
