VINCI (Leonardo). Abhandlung über die Malerei. Paris, Druckerei von Jacques Langlois, 1651. Folio, granitiertes Kalbsleder, verzierter Rücken (Epochenband). Erstausgabe der französischen Übersetzung der theoretischen Schriften über die Kunst von Leonardo da Vinci (1452–1519). Die Illustration besteht aus einem auf Kupfer gravierten Frontispiz, signiert von Lochon, verziert mit einem sehr ausdrucksstarken Porträt von Leonardo, sowie aus 56 im Text enthaltenen Kupferstichen, die nach Zeichnungen von Nicolas Poussin angefertigt wurden und geometrische und anatomische Figuren darstellen. Darunter befindet sich das Porträt der Mona Lisa, das im Vergleich zum Original seitenverkehrt gestochen wurde und als Illustration zu Kapitel 287 dient. Es scheint sich hierbei um die erste Darstellung dieses berühmtesten aller Porträts in einem Buch zu handeln. Zwei handgeschriebene Exlibris auf dem Titelblatt: Exlibris Thomae de la Couldre D. de la Bretonniere, Empt. Par. 3. Mai 1672 10 lib., und De Boisgrimot, Prior. Restaurierter Riss ohne Fehl am oberen Rand des Frontispiz, auf der Titelseite sowie auf den Blättern A4, B3, E1, K2, L3, M4 und Q4. Feuchtigkeitsfleck und Verschmutzung auf Blatt F1. Grob restaurierter Einband, modernes Futter. Gutachter: Herr Dominique Courvoisier
