Pierre BAYLE (1945–2004). Alabastre – 17. Januar (19)88. Vase mit schmalem Hals aus engobiertem Terrakotta, sogenanntem „Sigillata“. Unter dem Boden signiert und datiert. H_20 cm Herkunft: okzitanische Privatsammlung, von einer Freundin von Pierre Bayle. Anmerkung: Der im Languedoc geborene und in Castelnaudary ausgebildete Keramiker Pierre Bayle verband traditionelles Handwerk mit avantgardistischer Forschung und etablierte die Keramik als eigenständige Kunstform an der Schnittstelle zwischen Gebrauchs- und Dekorationsgegenstand. Er fertigt Sigillata-Keramiken an, die zunächst engobiert und anschließend geräuchert werden; ihre Oberflächen sind so bearbeitet, dass sie eine besondere Textur und Craquelé-Effekte aufweisen, die seinen Werken Tiefe und Einzigartigkeit verleihen.
