CHARLES COTTET (1863–1925), zugeschrieben Selbstporträt Öl auf Leinwand Maße: 27 x 34,5 cm Ein weiteres Selbstporträt befindet sich im Musée des Beaux-Arts in Quimper, und die „Gazette de Drouot“ veröffentlichte am 4. Oktober 2002 einen Artikel über diesen Künstler. - Der französische Maler, der auch als Aquarellist, Zeichner und Kupferstecher tätig war, studierte in Paris bei Puvis de Chavannes und Roll. Er debütierte 1889 auf dem Salon und ließ sich in der Bretagne nieder, wo er die Landschaften malte, die ihn einem breiten Publikum bekannt machten. Er reiste 1892 nach Algerien und 1896 nach Ägypten, was sein Werk maßgeblich beeinflusste. Seine bevorzugten Motive sind Landschaften, Meeresansichten und Porträts.
