Holocaust Wiesel, Eli Eigenhändiger Brief von Eli Wiesel an Michael Yizhar, datiert 2. Mai 1995, in hebräischer Sprache. As a survivor of the Nazi concentration camps Auschwitz and Buchenwald, he made the memory of the Shoah the central subject of his literary, journalistic, and humanitarian work. His autobiographically inspired work Night ranks among the seminal testimonies of Holocaust literature. In 1986, Wiesel was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his commitment to human rights, his opposition to persecution, and his advocacy for the dignity of victims of violence and genocide. He was also deeply engaged in educational and commemorative work, as well as in the worldwide preservation of the memory of the Shoah.
