LEMOISNE (Paul-André). Gavarni, Maler und Lithograf. Paris, Floury, 1924. 2 Bände im Groß-8er-Format, broschiert, in beschädigten Schuber. Das Werk ist mit Einlegeblättern auf festem Papier illustriert, darunter 8 in Farbe, sowie mit zahlreichen Abbildungen im Text. Einige davon sind mit beschrifteten Bildunterschriften versehen, und das Porträt von Balzac (S. 98, Band 1) ist aufgeklebt. Als Kunsthistoriker und Konservator im Kupferstichkabinett nutzt Lemoisne hier seine besondere Verbindung zum Künstler, dessen Enkelin er geheiratet hat, sowie seinen privilegierten Zugang zu dessen Korrespondenz, um diese zugleich sehr umfassende und intime Biografie zu verfassen.
