Robert Hermann Sterl "Nordfranzösisches Dorf". 1893. Robert Hermann Sterl 1867 Großdobritz – 1932 Naundorf/Sächs. Schweiz Öl auf Leinwand, auf Hartfaser kaschiert. In Blei monogrammiert u.re. "R.St.". Verso u.re. mit dem maschinenschriftlichen Nachlass-Etikett "Rob. Sterl" sowie mittig mit der Maßangabe des Bildträgers in Blei. In einer Berliner Leiste gerahmt. WVZ Popova 125, mit abweichender Angabe zum Bildträger. Ausgestellt in: Robert Sterl (1867–1932). Bilder der Arbeit. Kunsthalle Rostock, 1974. Malschicht im Vordergrund Mi. mit geringen Bereibungen sowie wenigen winzigen Fehlstellen im Randbereich. Kleiner Farbfleck im Eckbereich o.li. sowie dort ein unscheinbarer alter, diagonaler Knick im Bildträger. Firnis in den Malschicht-Tiefen etwas gegilbt. Maße: 21,7 x 31,8 cm, Ra. 28,7 x 38,5 cm. Robert Hermann Sterl 1867 Großdobritz – 1932 Naundorf/Sächs. Schweiz 1881–91 Studium an der Kunstakademie Dresden u.a. bei Leon Pohle, ab 1886 Meisterschüler von Ferdinand Pauwels. 1892 Arbeit mit Carl Bantzer in Willingshausen, Goppeln und Johnsdorf. 1893 Studienreise nach Frankreich. 1894–1904 wiederholte Aufenthalte im hessischen Wittgenborn. 1904 Berufung als Lehrer an die Dresdner Kunstakademie, 1906 Ernennung zum Professor. 1906–1914 insgesamt fünf Reisen nach Russland, drei davon Wolgafahrten auf einem Dampfschiff im Rahmen einer Konzerttournee des Dirigenten Sergei Alexandrowitsch Kussewizky. 1915 Wahl zum Nachfolger Gotthardt Kuehls als Vorstand des Meisterateliers für Malerei. 1919 Wahl zum Mitglied der Berliner Akademie der Künste. 1928 erste Übersichtsausstellung von Sterls Werk in der Kunsthütte zu Chemnitz. 1932 Gedächtnisausstellung in der Gemäldegalerie Neue Meister Dresden.
