The Paul Goute Collection, Modern and Contemporary Masters at Drouot

O n Friday, 20 November 2026, Hôtel Drouot will host an exceptional sale of modern and contemporary art, featuring a distinguished collection assembled by Paul Goute and presented by Mirabaud-Mercier.

Enriched over time through personal encounters, the collection reveals the banker’s discerning eye and refined judgement, as well as the artistic affinities and friendships that shaped his choices. Preserved by his descendants for four generations, it now brings together works by leading figures in French art, including Albert Marquet and Eugène Boudin.

Brittany, with its moorlands, villages and sailing vessels, occupies a prominent place in the collection, featuring paintings by André Dauchez, Lucien Simon, René Quivillic, Willem Van Hasselt and Étienne Bouchaud.

Three works by Albert Marquet, a close friend of Paul Goute for many years, stand out as highlights of the collection. Two of them bear labels from Galerie Druet, a leading Parisian gallery in the early twentieth century.
