This anthology of around one hundred works brings together, in an exceptional display of quality and abundance, a remarkably rare collection of eight pieces of furniture by Diego Giacometti, impressive archaeological objects, numerous sculptures by masters including Rodin, Miró, Degas and César, as well as major works by great painters ranging from Auguste Renoir to Richard Serra, alongside Moïse Kisling, Salvador Dalí, Alfred Sisley and Camille Pissarro. Picasso will also be in the spotlight through a collection of ceramics that have lost none of their charm, as well as an exceptional book.
Curated by Judith Touitou, an Artistic Director from the world of fashion, this new installation is conceived as an invitation to navigate between different aesthetic worlds. It explores the resonances between works beyond periods, categories and traditional hierarchies, revealing all the defining qualities of Drouot through its freedom of spirit, the significance of the works and their diversity.
Each wall of the great hall will present, through a simple yet radical display, a bold association of furniture, objects and paintings, each forming a suggestive world whose ambition is to let the almost magical interactions between the works unfold, revealing the dreamlike dimension inherent in every artistic endeavour.
