Trait d'Union - Une sélection d'oeuvres par Judith Touitou

F rom the first appearance at auction of contemporary French artist Anne Barrès, now 88, to the rediscovery of the only silverpoint drawing by the Renaissance master Hans Baldung Grien still held in private hands - alongside a selection of works by great masters such as Sisley, Picasso, Miró, Munch, and Toulouse-Lautrec - this special Salon du Dessin edition of Œuvres Choisies (Selected Works) at Hôtel Drouot, curated by Judith Touitou, offers a journey through exceptional artistic encounters.

Following the exhibition Trait et Feuille, presented during the 2025 Salon du Dessin, Drouot presents its 2026 special Salon du Dessin edition of Œuvres Choisies, structured around two highlight events that reflect both the eclecticism and the stature of this quintessential Parisian auction venue.

Dedicated to the remarkable French sculptor Anne Barrès, the main hall of Hôtel Drouot will offer visitors the chance to discover this artist, born in 1938. Several of her sculptures will be displayed alongside preparatory drawings, revealing the intricacies of her creative process and the breadth of her artistic talent. Having exhibited in prestigious museums and galleries from Paris to New York, Anne Barrès will see the contents of her studio offered at auction for the first time this April by auction house Art Valorem, an event reflecting the spirit of discovery and excellence that defines Drouot.

Hôtel Drouot's flagship exhibition room will be devoted to Œuvres Choisies, one of Drouot's most celebrated events, with particular emphasis on drawings and major works coming to auction. Among these is Portrait of Susanna Pfeffinger by Hans Baldung Grien — a silverpoint on bone-ash prepared paper, dated 1517, which has remained in the sitter's family by descent (to be offered by Beaussant Lefèvre & Associés) and estimated at €1.5–3 million.

Drouot's distinctive reach will also be reflected through works by artists as wide-ranging as Picasso, Matisse, Munch, Miró, Chagall, and Vasarely, alongside the most Parisian of illustrators, Toulouse-Lautrec.
Eclecticism is not limited to the celebrated masters. Visitors will also encounter important works waiting to be discovered, offered at more accessible estimates, fully reflecting the broad spectrum of sales at Hôtel Drouot - from Oblongo, a canvas by Brazilian artist Paolo Roberto Real, offered by Maurice Auction (estimated €6,000–10,000), to original Rahan comic strips presented by young auction house Neo Enchères.
