A one-of-a-kind collection of contemporary art

T his collection, woven from encounters and friendships over the years, has its origins in a work by the Venezuelan painter Mauro Meijiaz – a pivotal first acquisition for Jean-Jacques Gueron. An engineer by training, Gueron was not initially destined for the art world. His sensitivity to contemporary art emerged thanks to the influence of those around him: his brother-in-law, Léon Hardy, a lover of abstract art, and an uncle close to Jean-Claude Gaubert, a fashion designer and connoisseur of the Parisian art scene.
Jacques Moreau, known as “le Maréchal”
Le Bruit
Est. €1,000 – €1,500
Fifty works by Mauro Meijiaz will be presented in the sale, including two oil paintings: Composition surréaliste réalisée (circa 1965) and Visage d’un univers vide (1965), estimated at €300–500 and €300–600 respectively. These canvases vividly express the artist’s surreal and dreamlike universe. Meijiaz has been based in Paris since 1964.

Known for his abstract works and exploration of geometric forms, Joaquin Ferrer will also be represented with Le problème est entre l’homme et lui-même, an oil on canvas dated 1963 and estimated at €3,000–5,000. Among the 13 paintings by Jacques Moreau, collectors will discover works by this artist admired by André Breton.
