Established since 1975 on Place de la Gare in Cannes, in spacious, recently refurbished premises, Cannes Enchères holds nearly eighty auctions a year. Regular auctions take place on three Tuesdays a month (lots are accepted on Thursdays and Fridays).
Alongside a major ‘modern and contemporary paintings’ department (with five sales a year, rivalling even the largest auction houses), Messrs Aymard and Debussy, assisted by leading experts, organise around thirty catalogued sales each year covering a wide range of specialities. Since 2011, the firm has been particularly recognised for its expertise in Russian art, mainly from the non-conformist period of the 1960s and 1970s, for which it has set numerous world records.
Other specialities include marine art, tribal art, Asian art, archaeology and natural history, 20th-century design and decorative arts, Freemasonry, etc. – all of which benefit from an average of three sales per year – as well as collectable walking sticks (sale in July) and prestige and collectable cars…
Each major sale is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue, as well as a preview cocktail reception enabling clients to view the lots and speak with the auctioneers. For all catalogued sales, a two-and-a-half-day public exhibition and a pre-exhibition in Paris (at the firm’s representative office) are systematically organised.
