En 1977 Citroën dévoile la CX GTI dont le moteur 2,4 litres doté d'une injection développera 128 ch. Lorsque Citroën avait dévoilé la Citroën DS au salon de Paris en 1955, le choc avait été grand. L'innovation était totale à tout point de vue : châssis, design, habitacle. Le lourd héritage força Citroën à se distinguer par une aérodynamique soignée et un coefficient de pénétration dans l'air flatteur : moins de 0.35 : 0.30 à sa sortie avec amélioration de 11% du SCx par rapport à la DS et maxi 0.35 pour la série 2 break. Lancée en octobre 1984, la CX GTI Turbo a été fabriquée en plusieurs versions. Une première série, produite moins d’un an durant (octobre 84 à juin 85), possède des pare-chocs peints, et quelques spécificités intérieures. Une deuxième série reste identique mécaniquement mais se pare d’une nouvelle carrosserie avec des pare-chocs plus enveloppants. La Turbo 2 enfin, garde la même carrosserie, et récupère un Intercooler améliorant notamment la consommation mais aussi les performances. La CX série 2 est marquée par l’abandon des chromes pour du plastique. Et son tableau de bord dit adieu aux compteurs à tambour tournant. La CX entre ainsi dans les eighties et bénéficie d’un air de jouvence pour faire face à ses concurrentes. Sur cette version GTI Turbo 2 elle reçoit un grand aileron sous la lunette arrière et des logos évocateurs de puissance un peu partout. Il apporte avec les très belles jantes alliages un style sportif à cette grande berline youngtimer. Le modèle présenté a été restauré (18 300 € de restauration). Nous avons pu prendre énormément de plaisirs à parcourir les kilomètres du domicile du propriétaire jusqu’à Fontainebleau. Elle a aujourd’hui une cote qui continue de grimper et d’autres pays ont déjà commencé à mettre la main sur les beaux exemplaires. The innovation was total in every respect: chassis, design, interior. The heavy heritage forced Citroën to distinguish itself by careful aerodynamics and a flattering air penetration coefficient: less than 0.35: 0.30 at the time of its launch with an 11% improvement in SCx compared to the DS and a maximum of 0.35 for the Series 2 estate. Launched in October 1984, the CX GTI Turbo was produced in several versions. A first series, produced for less than a year (October 1984 to June 1985), had painted bumpers and some specific interior features. A second series remained mechanically identical but had new bodywork with more enveloping bumpers. Finally, the Turbo 2 keeps the same bodywork, and gets an intercooler that improves fuel consumption and performance. The CX Series 2 is marked by the abandonment of chrome for plastic. And its dashboard says goodbye to the rotating drum counters. The CX thus enters the eighties and benefits from a rejuvenation to face its competitors.
