Cette petite sportive apparaitra sur le marché à partir de 1975 et portera le nom de Montecarlo en hommage aux victoires de la marque italienne en rallye. Dès lors, la recette est simple : un dessin signé Pininfarina, une évolution du 4 cylindres 2.0L Fiat double arbres à cames en position centrale et le tout reposant sur un châssis tubulaire. La voiture est tellement efficace qu’elle permet à la marque Lancia de remporter deux titres constructeurs en catégorie 2.0L. Ces titres sont alors acquis durant les 6H de Brands Hatch en 1980, de Mugello en 1980 et de Watkins Glen en 1980 et 1981. Produite à un peu moins de 7 600 exemplaires, la Beta Montecarlo est aujourd’hui l’un des coupés italiens les plus en vogue chez les collectionneurs.
