VILLON, Jacques. RENOIR, Auguste (after) La loge. 1928 Aquatint in colour, 27,8 x 22,5 cm, thick wove paper 56,5 x 38 cm, pencil signed at bottom right (outer marg. sl. foxed and toned). Hinged by its right margin to cardb. support, under passe-partout. Identical composition with an impressionistic painting by Renoir which he painted in 1874. The work depicts a young couple in a box at the Paris theatre. Villon (1875-1963), also known as Gaston Duchamp, was a French Cubist, abstract painter and printmaker.
