REM, Hans (attributed to) Antverpia. S.l.n. 17th c.? Engr. on 3 (of 4) ff., 42 x 161,5 cm, old hand-coloured (the left part from "Cazenberg" to "Roy poort" is missing, marg. tear with a bit of loss, sl. browned, sm. defects). Framed (not studied outside frame). Impressive roadstead view of Antwerp and the Scheldt from the left bank, which was a rural area for a long time. First published in Antwerp by Jan-Baptist Vrints (ca. 1555-1610) and later issued in Amsterdam by J. Loots (1630) and Cl. J. Visscher (1652). All these states are different from this copy which has a new bilingual text in the cartouche of pl. 4 "De Lotharinger Vorst, de eerste Hendrik bou[w]de [...]". Ref.
