BUSTE D’ATHÉNA PALLAS DU TYPE VELLETRI Fin du XVIIIe - début du XIXe siècle Sculpture en marbre blanc Hauteur : 94 cm Note Inspiré de la statue d’Athéna casquée dite « Pallas de Velletri » du Ier siècle et découverte à la fin du XVIIIe siècle, Musée du Louvre, inv. Ma 464. La déesse de la guerre est représentée la tête légèrement inclinée vers l’avant, le regard vers le bas, ce qui laisse présumer que ce buste était probablement positionné en hauteur dans une niche. Sa chevelure est composée de longues mèches ondulées nouées à l’arrière est surmontée du casque corinthien. À la cime du casque, et sur l’encolure de sa robe, des serpents ondulent. Ma 464. The goddess war is represented with the head tilted slightly forward, the gaze down, suggesting that this bust was probably looking in height in a niche. Her hair is made up of long wavy locks tied at the back is surmounted by the Corinthian helmet. At the top of the helmet, and on the neckline of her dress, undulating snakes.
