Qashqai Rug - c.1900
Iran - Lori people
Wool and vegetal dye - 255 cm x 100 cm
Tribal Qashqai rugs had a major influence on European artists such as like Märta Måås-Fjetterström. By the end of the 19th Century, the abstract patterns of these rugs, sometimes embellished with embroidery, were considered quite unique and radical in design.
Thanks to the loops at the edges of this rug, it could also double as a traveling bag when folded.
