Large antique red marble basin-shaped centerpiece with burnished bronze Atlas figures, France, early 19th century 50 x 32 cm A classic example of production linked to the Grand Tour and the workshops of Roman and French bronzesmiths and goldsmiths, it consists of a flared circular basin, adorned at the bottom with long, side-by-side pods, supported by three Atlas figures depicted in a classical pose of exertion, supporting the basin with their shoulders. The architectural tripod base with concave sides rests on three curled feet.
