Wood and gilded bronze crucifix on a base of various marbles, 18th century 57 x 30 cm - Christ 16 x 15.5 cm The figure of Christ is depicted lifeless, without a wound in the side, depicting a sober and intense version of the moment of death. The body hangs from the cross with its head bowed to its chest and its eyes closed. The arms remain outstretched and nailed, while the legs are slightly bent, indicating the weight of the abandoned body. The absence of a wound in the side, usually a symbol of the blow inflicted after death, suggests a symbolic choice aimed at focusing on the purity and solemnity of death itself. Cross with a silver titulus crucis and skull; embossed and gilded metal terminals. Base in black, yellow, and red brocatelle marble, decorated on both sides with a small cameo.
