Attribuito a Richard Caton Woodville II (1856 - 1927) - Before Leuthen, 1879 oil on canvas 99 x 196 cm signed and dated lower left: RC Woodville / 1879 on the back old labels relating to the origin The composition correlates with that of RC Woodville's painting Before Leuthen, 3 December 1757 exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1879 ( The exhibition of the Royal Academy of Arts , London 1879, p. 24, n. 511), of which only an illustrated sketch is known in the volume Academy Notes with 146 illustrations, 127 being facsimiles of sketches by the artist (Henry Blackburn, Academy Notes with 146 illustrations, 127 being facsimiles of sketches by the artist , London, May 1979, p. 50, n. 511).
