Attilio Stefanori (Roma 1860 - 1911) - Nun fainted charcoal and pastel on card 51.8 x 81.5 cm This study focuses on a little-known work by Stefanori, The Sack of Rome. This large painting, whose current location is unknown, is located in a room of the now-abandoned Guglielmi Castle, or Isabella Castle, on Isola Maggiore in Lake Trasimeno. This strongly narrative painting depicted a scene, animated by many characters, of the famous Sack of Rome in 1527 at the hands of the Landsknechts.
