Nel 1971 è stato adattato in un film controverso da Stanley Kubrick, che secondo Burgess è stato il principale responsabile della popolarità del libro. Ha scritto libretti e sceneggiature, tra cui la miniserie televisiva Gesù di Nazareth del 1977. Kramer come produttore, Sam Katz come produttore associato, George Glass come regista e Carl Foreman come autore della sceneggiatura. Firmato a penna da Gary Cooper. In buone condizioni. Cooper vinse l'Oscar come miglior attore protagonista per la sua interpretazione del maresciallo Will Kane in questo classico film western, candidato a sette premi Oscar e vincitore di quattro.
