Opening the programme, a special exhibition held from 3 to 6 June will showcase around thirty works due to come under the hammer in the following days. Spanning China, Tibet, Japan, Vietnam and beyond, the selection highlights the richness and diversity of Asian artistic traditions through ceramics, hardstone carvings, lacquerware, sculpture and other decorative arts.
Among the highlights:
- a 15th-century Tibetan Chakrasamvara, illustrating both the refined craftsmanship and the iconographic sophistication of Himalayan Buddhist art of the period (DIGARD AUCTION, sale on 9 June);
- an imperial Chinese seal from the Qianlong period (1736–1795). Carved in celadon nephrite with brown veining and surmounted by a recumbent chilong dragon, it bears the inscription “Lotus Pavilion”, in reference to a Buddhist hall especially favoured by the Qianlong Emperor and emblematic of the spiritual and poetic atmosphere of the Chengde Mountain Resort (CHRISTOPHE JORON-DEREM, sale on 16 June);
- a Yu zhu chang tiao jade candle pricket, representative of ritual objects produced for the Qing imperial court. Only two comparable examples are known today: one in the Palace Museum, Beijing, and the other in the National Palace Museum, Taipei (AUDAP & ASSOCIÉS, sale on 19 June).

Thursday 4 June | 11am–8pm

In dialogue with the exhibition, Hôtel Drouot will host a lecture by Alice Jossaume (Cabinet Portier & Associés), entitled Jade Treasures at Drouot: Emperors, Scholars and Collectors. Drawing on a group of twelve jades presented for sale by AUDAP & ASSOCIÉS, she will explore the enduring fascination exerted by jade on Chinese elites — as a symbol of power and virtue, but also as a material charged with imagination and meaning. The talk will shed light on the diversity of these hardstones, the techniques developed to reveal their beauty, and the symbolic worlds they embody.
Alice Jossaume, expert at Cabinet Portier & Associés, will present a collection of around fifty netsuke, predominantly carved in boxwood, to be offered for sale by THIERRY DE MAIGRET on 12 June. The talk will explore the artistry and imagination behind these miniature ornaments once worn with traditional Japanese costume. Beyond their practical purpose, netsuke became a remarkable field of expression for specialised sculptors during the Edo and Meiji periods, giving rise to a rich repertoire of animals, deities and legendary figures drawn from Japanese folklore.
Date and time: Thursday 11 June 2026 | 6.30pm–7.15pm
Venue: Hôtel Drouot | Room 4
Practical information: limited to 30 participants, upon prior registration
