With operations spread across three auction houses, each with a distinct focus, the gavel falls four times a month at Eppli. What began 40 years ago with a small shop specializing in the buying and selling of antique jewelry—driven by a genuine passion for the craft—has grown into one of Southern Germany’s largest auction houses. The company’s extensive portfolio is now distributed across eight locations. In addition to regular auctions, Eppli locations offer a unique selection of jewelry, watches, antiques, art, and designer fashion and accessories available for immediate purchase.
"We Appreciate Value" (or "We Value What Matters") emerged over time as the company’s guiding philosophy—a concept with a dual meaning. We do more than simply assess the current market value of various items on a daily basis; a deep appreciation for exceptional objects lies at the very heart of our work and convictions. With over 25,000 items auctioned annually and a superb team of experts across all disciplines, Eppli has established itself as a leading auction house in Southern Germany in recent years. The Expert Center (www.expertenzentrum.de), established in 2015 right on Stuttgart’s market square, consolidated our comprehensive expertise in one central location, allowing us to meet the growing demand for valuations, appraisals, auction consignments, and collateral lending with even greater efficiency. Today, the Eppli Expert Center ranks among Germany’s leading institutions and is unique in its field.
After more than 40 years of leadership by Gabriele and Franz Eppli, the second generation is already poised to take the helm. Ferdinand Eppli currently manages the family business alongside his parents; he laid the groundwork for the company’s future during his professional training. Ferdinand B. Eppli studied business administration in Germany and the USA, subsequently completing specialized training as a gemologist at the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) in New York. The GIA is considered the world’s most renowned institute for diamond and gemstone grading, education, and research. Having been publicly appointed and sworn in as an auctioneer by the state capital of Stuttgart, he—like his father—is authorized to conduct auctions involving government mandates and items subject to legal disputes, ensuring full legal certainty. His sister, Katharina, successfully completed a Master’s degree in "Fashion, Luxury & Sales Management" at the International School of Management in Cologne and works in the family business’s management team, primarily within the fashion department. Their shared vision is to further establish the company as a leading auction house in southern Germany and to drive the company’s digitalization forward.
As part of our charitable activities, we take a responsible approach to addressing societal and social issues. We regularly conduct auctions to benefit foundations and non-profit organizations. We have consolidated our social commitment through the Eppli & Hopf Foundation, a foundation established under civil law. We are particularly dedicated to supporting individuals who have fallen into hardship due to accidents, illness, or personal misfortune. We view this commitment as an integral part of our corporate responsibility.
