Visscher] 1642 Engr., 46,6 x 56,5 cm, hand-coloured (central fold partly split and restored on verso, along with older reinforcements and sm. restorations on verso (almost completely underlaid), sm. loss in upper right ede restored, sl. age-toned). Later state of this important carte-à-figures map of Brabant by Claes Jansz Visscher, here published by his son Nicolaes. The sides contain the portraits of the archdukes Albert and Isabella, the coat of arms of Brabant, Antwerp and Mechelen, 8 costumed figures and 10 views on important cities (Brussels, Antwerp but also Leuven, Lier, Bergen op Zoom, etc.), likely after the city views by Pieter van de Keere for the obl. editions of Guicciardini's "Beschryving van de Nederlanden".
