He was the student of Alexey Brodovitch, photography teacher and art director. Attie worked in a wide range of styles, illustrating novels, magazine, album covers and posters, and taking portraits of famous people. He was best known for his photo montages, an approach he called "multiple-image photography" that he made by combining negatives in the darkroom.
