Fine portrait of Pietro Ottoboni (1667-1740), Italian cardinal, grandnephew of Pope Alexander VIII and patron of the arts. This painting appears to be the finest version of several preserved half-length portraits by Francesco Trevisani (1656-1746). A nearly full-length portrait of Ottoboni at a slightly younger age, also by Trevisani, is at the Bowes Museum of Durham Castle. Prov.
