1856 - Insigne du 197eme Squadron RAF. En metal emaille, marque Squadron 197 Royal Air Force Findimus Caelum. Les deux attaches au dos sont presentes. Une attache est tordue. l escadron s est reforme le 21 novembre 1942 a la RAF Turnhouse et a ete approvisionne en typhons. Il a ensuite opere a partir de la RAF Manston, de la RAF Tangmere et de la RAF Hurn. Il a soutenu les debarquements en Normandie en juin 1944 et a demenage en France ou il a suivi l avancee des Allies a travers l Europe a la recherche de cibles d opportunites. Le 3 mai 1945, l escadron a pris part a l attaque qui a abouti au naufrage du SS Cap Arcona. Il s est dissous a Hildesheim, en Allemagne, le 31 aout 1945. A noter une certaine usure et patine de la piece. Etat II+. RAF 197 Squadron badge. Enamelled metal construction marked Squadron 197 Royal Air Force Findimus Caelum. Both rear fastenings are present. One fastening is bent. The squadron reformed on 21 November 1942 at RAF Turnhouse and was equipped with Typhoons. It subsequently operated from RAF Manston, RAF Tangmere and RAF Hurn. It supported the Normandy landings in June 1944 and moved to France, where it followed the Allied advance across Europe in search of targets of opportunity. On 3 May 1945, the squadron took part in the attack which resulted in the sinking of the SS Cap Arcona. It was disbanded at Hildesheim, Germany, on 31 August 1945. Some wear and patina to the piece. Condition II+.
