Le 9 Commando a entrepris son premier raid, l operation Sunstar, dans la nuit du 22 au 23 novembre 1941 sur la cote francaise a Houlgate. l operation suivante a laquelle les hommes du n° 9 ont ete impliques etait la St. Raid de Nazaire en mars 1942. Les hommes ont ensuite ete utilises pour renforcer la garnison de Gibraltar pendant l operation Torch, les debarquements en Afrique du Nord francaise. Pendant l invasion alliee de l Italie, dans le cadre de la 2e brigade de service special, les hommes ont ete impliques dans l operation Partridge en decembre 1943 dans la region de la riviere Garigliano. Cela a ete suivi par l operation Shingle, les debarquements et les combats d Anzio a Monte Ornito avant d etre retire a Naples en mars 1944. Etat I. No. 9 Commando title. The next operation involving the men of No. 9 was the St. Nazaire Raid in March 1942. The men were then used to reinforce the Gibraltar garrison during Operation Torch and the landings in French North Africa. During the Allied invasion of Italy, as part of the 2nd Special Service Brigade, the men took part in Operation Partridge in December 1943 in the Garigliano River area. This was followed by Operation Shingle, the Anzio landings and fighting at Monte Ornito before the unit was withdrawn to Naples in March 1944. Condition I.
