Monture en bronze avec coquille ciselee aux armoiries de l’etat du Congo, au lion, et a la devise « TRAVAIL ET PROGReS », marquee FONSON et Cie. Contre-clavier lisse, bouton-ressort de blocage absent. Quillon termine par un masque de lion. Sans fourreau. Lame legerement desaxee vers le haut par rapport a la poignee. Oxydation et usure d’usage. Belgian Congo Force Publique sword, pre-1911. Possibly assembled from different parts. Relatively thin and flexible straight double-edged blade. Horn grip with missing wire binding. Bronze hilt with a chiselled guard bearing the lion coat of arms of the Congo State and the motto WORK AND PROGRESS, marked FONSON et Cie. Plain counterguard with missing spring locking button. Quillon ending in a lion mask. No scabbard. Blade slightly angled upwards in relation to the grip. Oxidation and signs of use.
