Close to Clos de la Roche, its soil is very thin. The Vieilles Vignes cuvée offers dense, complex and smooth wines, made from small bunches affected by millerandage. In 2002 the winter is cold and long, followed by a cool spring, delaying the flowering. A hot, dry summer allows a gradual, even ripening, helped by rains in early September and a sunny end to the season until the harvest. The 2002 wines are ripe and concentrated, but also full of freshness and fruit, pure and precise. The 2003 vintage is marked by the legendary heatwave with which it is associated. Beginning with a wet winter and a mild spring, the season is hit by severe frosts on 11 and 12 April. An exceptionally hot and dry summer follows, resulting in particularly early harvests, from mid-August. In the glass, the 2003 vintage yields fleshy, expressive and rich wines. 2006 begins under the sign of humidity and coolness, which mark the winter and the spring through to the flowering. While the start of summer is exceptionally hot, a cool and wet end to summer slows the ripening of the grapes. The warmth and light of September save the vintage and its ripening through to the harvest. The wines of this vintage are elegant, fruity and precise, with silky tannins.
