A true mosaic of lieux-dits gives it its unique character: it is spread over some 85 very heterogeneous parcels, with a multitude of altitudes, slopes, exposures, drainage patterns and geologies. The Clos was planted by the monks of Cîteaux in the Middle Ages and then enclosed by walls. From the end of the 19th century, the land was gradually divided among numerous owners. 2017 is the first vintage of this appellation at Domaine Hubert Lignier. The grapes come from clay and stony parcels and are vinified with 20 months of ageing in barrel, 30% of them new. The cuvée combines power, depth and the promise of a very great ageing potential. 2020 is an early, sun-drenched and concentrated vintage. With its very mild winter and the months of April and May passing without incident, the start of the season leads to a flowering in excellent conditions. The summer, hot and very dry, results in an extremely early harvest of very healthy, concentrated grapes, from mid-August. The 2020 wines display deep fruit, are richly coloured, concentrated, ripe and extracted, and are endowed with a fine tannic framework. Although 2021 is the year of freshness, it has nonetheless produced remarkable bottles. The winter, alternating between cold and mild, is followed by polar winds and severe frosts from 6 to 9 April. Thanks to a warm and bright June, the flowering goes well. Until mid-August, the summer is very wet and temperatures are cool. Despite a fortnight of sunny, dry weather in late August, autumnal conditions return in September, until the harvest on 23 September. In 2021, the wines are fresh, highly aromatic and airy, supported by firm, fine tannins. 2022 is a warm, high-quality vintage. After a mild and dry winter, the late budburst protects the vines from the April frosts. Heat sets in from mid-April and continues through a sunny, at times scorching summer. The rains of June and August limit water stress. The harvest begins as early as 1 September at the estate. This fine year gives deep, ripe, fleshy and tannic wines. Domaine Hubert Lignier will be pleased to welcome the winning bidder for a private visit of the estate, for two guests. The date of the visit will be agreed jointly between the buyer and Domaine Hubert Lignier. The estate will be delighted to welcome the bidder until 31 December 2027.
